Playspaces is a collaborative video chat app designed for children to communicate with each other remotely while creating something together with synchronous technology.
I built and designed the product and brand from scratch. Notable responsibilities include:
Product Design and Management UI / UX Strategy Rapid Prototyping & User Research Agile Development and Management Branding & Marketing Content Development
Product Development
From idea conception to wireframe design. From rapid prototype to beta product development. This project allowed me to tap into all facets of my skillset - combining UX design, visual design, product design and management plus a seamless collaboration with engineering to developed to unique IP and codebase.
Branding
A comprehensive suite of brand design elements to introduce this exciting brand for children. I wanted the brand to feel inviting, gender-neutral and playful. I used various design principles to support the brand design such as color, shape, etc.
Color
Extensive color studies were made to understand the palette that would resonate the most with children. A splash of bright color accent is grounded with the jewel tone of the galaxy.
Character Design
Visually unique shapes were used to develop characters that kids would feel connected to. The lack of gender and race was intentionally considered to present a more inclusive representation to appeal to a wider group of kids coming from various backgrounds.
Marketing
I developed a 360 marketing campaign to help launch this private beta product to the target markets. This included but was not limited to video production, content marketing, SEO strategy, social media, email drip campaign.
Activation Campaign
Beyond traditional marketing, I created seasonal user-generated campaigns to engage existing users and acquire new ones. This example is a competition to invite children to submit drawings to be featured on our coloring gallery.
